This week's winning shot is of the Great Australian Bight in South Australia. Not only is our photo contest highlighting the talent of our drone pilots and showing off the Australian landscape, it’s also been wonderful to learn a little more about the story’s behind the photos. Corey Sealby, who took this week's winning shot 'Edge of Earth', is living the Australian dream and traveling around Australia on a caravan adventure with his family of 6!! Can you spot their caravan?
Meet the Sealby Family! They are a family of 6 from Brisbane travelling around Australia for a year. Corey and his wife realised that all their plans were for the future and we weren’t really living for now. This is when “Livan For Now” was created. They decided they needed to live for now, rather than later. Now they are travelling around Australia with their kids and enjoying every moment!
Corey took the winning shot in South Australia approximately 135 kilometres east of the WA/SA border. They stumbled upon this location at the end of a dirt track, no one was around and it was the perfect spot to get the drone up for some shots. Corey loves using his DJI Spark drone to take pictures as it gives a totally different perspective of your surrounds and allows you to explore and see what would be impossible to visualise on the ground. When he looked at the photo of the Cliff shot, at the Great Australian Bight, it really gave him and his family some perspective on how close they where to the edge of the country.
If you go visit the Seably family's Facebook Page you will see it was in a post with around 30 other photos of that Great Australian Bight region. You can follow Corey and his family around Australia on Instagram and their Facebook Page. We look forward to continuing to highlighting our pilots and their talent on the BIRDI platform!
